EV Star
GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete range of medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles, which include lower-floor and high-floor models. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which is able to accommodate various upfits and bodies for multiple applications. The platform's design is based on a clean paper sheet, which allows for optimal placement of the battery pack and a lower center of gravity. This results in higher payload/range ratios.

The EV Star REEFERX is designed to serve mid to last mile refrigerated delivery as well as catering applications. The refrigerated truck's class 4 design's one wall structure inside and higher insulation than traditional trucks enable seamless sanitation, better temperature control and a longer life. The EV Star REEFERX provides superior capacity for cargo and a payload that is industry-leading to allow for zero emission goods or passenger transportation.
GreenPower partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems, which will allow fleets to transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star can also be wirelessly charging up to 75 kW.
We were allowed to test drive the EV9 on the local highway for a few hours, and found it easy to drive and comfortable to drive over long distances. The ride is smooth over ruts and bumps, while the EV9 does an excellent job of suppressing the sound of traffic and wind on the highway. The car's acceleration is surprisingly quick, and it has adjustable regenerative brakes to enable "one-pedal driving" simply by lifting off the accelerator.
The EV9 has excellent range and can be fully recharged within three hours at home, or using any commercial charger. The driver can select from two operating modes - eco mode and sport mode. Eco mode focuses on the cruise control and torque, while the sport mode increases speed and handling. Both modes are enjoyable to drive, and offer a unique experience for those who've never been in a vehicle with an electrical system before.
GreenPower provides a variety of other EVs that include a multi-purpose all-electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used for executive shuttles, microtransit and transit buses, vanpools, or paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower is already producing about 10 EV Star buses per month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is working to replace their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 electric vehicles. With the Biden Administration planning to electrify school buses nationwide, GreenPower plans on ramping production to meet demand. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS certified. green electric scooter are Buy America compliant, and ADA certified. This will make them eligible for federal transit grants. We will be following the AV Star as it goes on its public demonstration tour the coming months. We will be sharing more details about this revolutionary electric vehicle.
